Industry inspection
Legal backing
Quality inspection of industries in Rwanda was operational in March 2002 after the establishment of the Law no. 03/2002 of 19/01/2002 creating a National Bureau of Standards was in place. This is specified in Article 4 line 4 of the above mentioned law as a means of achieving the objectives the Bureau.
Why industry inspection

Why industry inspection
- To implement Rwanda Standards for realization of Quality Products
- To introduce and promote Quality management Systems in Industry
- To promote trade
- To protect the consumers.
Procedures for industry inspection
- RBS inspectors visit the industry without any prior notice
- Inspection is done on control of raw materials, production line and products
- Samples are taken and submitted to the RBS testing labs or any other recognized labs for analysis
- Appropriate advice is given on non conformities for corrective action
- Products that don’t conform to the standards requirements despite continued controls and advice on corrective action are not allowed on the market
Complaint handling
- Complaints are registered in a complaint handling register
- Complaint handling is done proportionate to the nature and magnitude of the complaint
