National workshop on SPS and TBT, with notification training

Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) in collaboration with Agency for International Trade Information and Cooperation’s (AITIC) is organizing a three days workshop on “Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) ” from 2nd to 4th June  2010, starting at 9h00 am, at SPORTS VIEW HOTEL.  
 
The aim of the workshop is to assist Rwanda in understanding and participating more actively in SPS and TBT related issues by building capacity and knowledge of key government officials as well as those in the private sector.

INTERLABORATORY COMPARISON IN METROLOGY

Interlaboratory comparison consists in comparison of measurement results of a laboratory and a reference laboratory which is the country with highest authority for the measurement concerned. The goal of an interlaboratory comparison is to verify the competence of accredited or non-accredited laboratories, including verification of the reported measurement uncertainties, whenever possible. Successful participation in an interlaboratory comparison is one of the necessary requirements of a laboratory accreditation or authorisation. For the second time, temperature laboratory is going to participate in the EAC intercomparison. The equipment to measure this year is the thermocouple, in the range of 0o C to 500o C.   Launch of PREPACKAGES CONTROL The RBS has started offering prepackaging control services. A pre-packed product is a an item consisting of a product and packing material into which it was put before being offered for sale and in which the quantity of the product has predetermined value. The objectives of this service are the following:
