Muri gahunda yo kubungabunga ubuzima bwa abaturarwanda bose, Ikigo cy’Igihugu gishinzwe Ubuziranenge (RBS) gifatanyije na Minisiteri y’Ubuzima (MINISANTE) na CNLS baramemyesha abaturarwanda bose ko agakingirizo kitwa “Hot” kagaragayeho ko katuzuza inshingano zako kubera ko kava/leak/ fuite.

Dushingiye kuribyo tukaba dukangurira abantu bose ko batagura cyangwa ngo bakoreshe akingirizo “Hot” kugeza igihe bazabimenyeshwako icyo kibazo cyakemutse.
Icyitonderwa; nubwoko bwa agakingirizo kitwa “Hot” konyine.

Public Announcement

In the framework of protecting the Rwandan public, the Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the National Aids Commission (CNLS) informs the general public that there is a condom brand known as “Hot” that leaks.

In this regard, we would like to request the general public neither to buy nor use that particular brand of condoms, “Hot”, until further notice.

Annonce publique

Dans le cadre de protéger la population rwandaise, l’Office Rwandais de Normalisation(RBS) en collaboration avec le Ministère de la santé et la CNLS annonce au public qu’il y a une marque de préservatif nommée «Hot » qui présente des fuites.

Dans ce cadre, RBS demande au public de ne plus acheter ni utiliser le préservatif « Hot » jusqu’ a la nouvelle annonce.

CLOSURE OF SOME OF THE PETROL STATIONS THAT TAMPERED WITH RBS SEALS FOR PREVENTING CHEATING OF CONSUMERS. 

In order to protect consumers from being defrauded by dealers in various products and in the interest of fair trade, The Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS) would like to inform the public that the Bureau decided to temporarily close KOBIL – Nyarutarama Petrol Station and SOURCE OIL (diesel nozzle) –Kinamba Petrol Station. This was done after finding out that the two Petrol Stations had tempered with Nozzles that had previously been calibrated and sealed by RBS. The seals were broken and nozzles intentionally adjusted and delivery settings changed.

The RBS management decided to close the pumps on 2/09/2009. Tampering with the said pumps was discovered by RBS inspectors in their annual operation of verifying the accuracy of fuel pumps since the previous calibration. Also according to the internal trade law N0 15/2001 of 28/01/2001 amending and completing law N0 35/91of 5th August 1991, the culprits can pay a fine of up to two million, Rwandan francs, pay back the profit unduly benefited from the buyer who has been unfairly treated if he is known or payment be made to the public treasury, temporary closure for up to three months and removal or suspension of the trade license are also provided for.

Advice to the consumers, RBS would like to request and advice all consumers to always be on the lookout and report individuals/ companies that offer wrong measures. This should always be reported to RBS through its hotline 3250.
RBS would also like to request the majority of esteem business community to be partners in fair trade because it is all our duty and obligation trading is fair and within the law.

Notes to editors
In 2008 saw Rwanda Bureau of Standards commence consumer protection activities through verification of fuel dispensing pumps throughout the country, and this has been followed by the verification of weighing instruments in market place and removing inappropriate measuring instruments that are found in use on the market.
Also in order to eliminate unfair or deceptive business practices, RBS carries out daily inspection activities at the marketplace, hotels & restaurants and industrial premises as well as imported goods. All these are aimed at consumer protection and promotion of fair trade.
