Product standards establish qualities or requirements for a product (or related group of products) to assure that it will serve its purpose effectively.

ISO 9001:2008 Quality management systems

Organisations all over the world have realized the benefits of implementing and maintaining quality management systems based on the ISO 9000 series of standards, since it improves the efficiency and effectiveness of an organisation’s operation. It provides consistency in the quality of a product and service.

It also drives an organisation to meet and exceed customer expectations, leading to an increase in market and shareholder value.

The course enhances the understanding of the standards and their requirements, thus enabling participants to implement and maintain such systems in their respective organisational environments.

ISO 22000:2005 Food safety management systems

The safety of products is increasingly becoming a serious issue. A surge in food borne diseases and outbreaks, an increase in consumer awareness about food safety, the increase in processed food products and the numerous travels of people from one place to another; have justified the need to produce safe food products.

ISO 19011:2002 Guidelines for quality and/or environmental

 management systems auditing

For an organisation to provide quality services and increase competitive advantage on local, regional and international markets, it is paramount to train staff on internal auditing. It provides staff on the principles of auditing, conducting quality management system audit, as well as guidance on the competence of quality management system auditor.

ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory management systems

As it is increasingly becoming difficult to penetrate some product markets; industries, producers and manufacturers have to obtain facilities that will lead them to the desired quality and safety of products so as to compete. Such facilities include accredited testing laboratories. Accreditation of testing laboratories requires an organisation/ company to meet the requirements of ISO 17025: 2005 which is the international standard for the general requirements for the competence of calibration and testing laboratories.

ISO 14001:2004 Environmental management systems

Organisations have a legal and social responsibility regarding the environment within which they operate.

This requires a sound environmental management system. This is due to organisations’ impact on the environment through their operational activities, products and services. ISO 14001 has been written to be applicable to all types and sizes of organisations. The overall aim of ISO 14001 is to support environmental protection and prevention of pollution in balance with socio-economic needs.

The training is applicable to all employees requiring an understanding of environmental management systems or those involved with the establishment, implementation, maintenance, continual improvement, management and evaluation of an ISO 14001 (EMS).

OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS)

Organisations have a legal and social responsibility regarding the occupational health and safety of all employees in their working environment. This requires sound occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS) due to hazards and risks that can have a detrimental effect on employees.

OHSAS18001:2007 has been written to be applicable to all types and sizes of organisations. The overall aim of the standard is to enable organisations to identify, eliminate or at least minimise and control their occupational hazards and lower their risks through improvement of OHSMS performance.
